1st Annual Pi-Rho Fest (March 9th, 2002):
(Map here)
The idea...
We've been scheming and come up with a testosterone induced idea.
In honor of Pi-Day (3.14 = march 14), we are going to have a celebration the
Saturday before Pi-Day. Since we are mixing various forms of pyro-mania, we are
calling this shindig Pi-Rho fest. (Unfortunately I can't send greek letters, so
you get the name spelled out.)
anyway, here's the scoop:
3/9/02 - At the Skrovan's and the Gazebo campground
Part 1: During the day we are going to launch rockets (Just like when
we were kids). EVERYONE is encouraged to build and bring a rocket.
So far, at least 6 people are bringing rockets. Even Laura has said
she'll build one. (I'm building at least 3.) If you've never done
this, there are very easy kits to learn from, and Joe or I would be
glad to walk you through the process or even purchase your rocket
for you.
Part 1b: We're going to try and talk Greg (aka Joe Jr.) into bringing
his canon and firing it for our entertainment and amusement.
Part 2: Fireworks after dark. I've got another batch of fireworks
(slightly more than I've had for any of the New Year's festivities).
Also, Bob Thaden is going to bring some extra special fireworks since
we have such a good place to launch and view them. If you like
fireworks, you won't want to miss this.
Part 3: Campout at the gazebo with the traditional bonfire.
Bonus: Special points for whoever can come up with the best way
to burn a gallon of peanut oil. I have many gallons left over
from frying turkeys the last 2 years and have been looking forward
to creative ways of burning it in the campfire.

That became a reality...
Well, I think it's safe to say the inaugural Pi-Rho Fest was a great success. The flag
was firmly planted in the ground, and insanity is sure to continue for years to come...
It took a bit for me to get the pictures online due to some WinBlows USB issues, but at
long last they are here... and they are pretty good (if I do say so myself). Enjoy...
